Commitment to Safety

Please review the Rugby Oregon Medical and Safety statement to learn about our commitment to the safety of our players.

Safesport

Safesport is the US Olympic Committee program created to help educate those involved in sport on the best practices for keeping participants safe and if necessary, reporting abuse. The course is designed to help coaches, referees, players, and administrators to navigate through potential abusive issues of any kind.

Safesport is also a tool to report and to investigate alleged issues. Rugby Oregon members are encouraged to report any issues they have witnessed or heard about that might fall within the category of this abuse. Every member and participant within rugby has an obligation to make our sport welcoming and free of abuse of any kind.

All Rugby Oregon Referees and Coaches are required to be Safesport certified to be considered active and compliant. Administrators and anyone affiliated with teams and clubs of any age, gender and level are encouraged to take the Safesport Certification to increase the knowledge of best practices.

Concussion Management

As part of our commitment to player safety, Rugby Oregon follows the guidance of World Rugby, USA Rugby, and USA Youth & High School Rugby with respect to proper concussion management. Please review our Concussions Page for more information.

Athletic Trainers

While Rugby Oregon Coaches are trained in First Aid Basics, Heat Illness Prevention, and Concussion Management, we do try to provide Athletic Trainers whenever possible. If you are an Athletic Trainer, or you want details, please review our Athletic Trainers page for more information.

Emergency Plans

Rugby Oregon maintains a list of Emergency Plans for a number of locations where matches are held. If you have updated information for an existing plan, or have information for a location missing from our list, please contact info@rugbyoregon.com so we can add that to our list. Please review the Emergency Plans page for a list of locations and plans.
